What Sushi Can I Order Without Rice?
Direct answer: You can order any sashimi (tuna, salmon, yellowtail, albacore, snapper, octopus and more — 5 pieces per order), the Seaweed, Cucumber, or Octopus salads, the Big Sashimi Salad, or riceless starters like Seared Ahi Tuna, Jalapeño Tail, Citrus Yellowtail, Sushi Nachos, and Sushi Pizza. Sushi Brokers has a full range of riceless options at all three Valley locations.
Sashimi — Sushi Without Rice
Sashimi is sliced fish served with no rice — it is the original no-rice sushi order. At Sushi Brokers, every sashimi order comes as 5 pieces:
- Tuna Sashimi ($20) — sliced tuna.
- Tuna Tataki ($20) — lightly seared tuna, sliced.
- Blackened Tuna ($20) — tuna with a blackened preparation.
- Yellowtail Sashimi ($20) — sliced yellowtail (hamachi).
- Albacore Tataki ($19) — lightly seared albacore, sliced.
- Salmon Sashimi ($18) — sliced salmon.
- Smoked Salmon ($20) — cured, smoked salmon.
- Snapper ($18) — sliced snapper.
- Octopus ($18) — sliced octopus (cooked).
This page is about what you can order without rice — not about nutrition. If you want to understand the difference between sashimi, nigiri, and rolls, see our format guide.

Riceless Starters and Specialties
A few starters and specialties are built without rice — instead they use crispy wontons, a cheese base, or nothing at all:
- Seared Ahi Tuna ($19) — sushi-grade ahi tuna, sesame crusted, pan seared, sliced, ponzu. No rice.
- Jalapeño Tail ($20) — yellowtail sashimi, avocado, ponzu, miso, sriracha. No rice.
- Citrus Yellowtail ($19) — yellowtail sashimi, avocado, ponzu, miso, sriracha, fresh lemon and orange juices. No rice.
- Sushi Nachos ($16) — spicy tuna, crispy wontons, seaweed, spicy mayo, jalapeño cheese, eel sauce, sriracha. Built on crispy wontons, not rice.
- Sushi Pizza ($22) — shrimp, tuna, yellowtail, krab, pineapple, red onion, jalapeño cheese, eel sauce, spicy mayo, sriracha. Built on a cheese base, not rice.
What About Nigiri Without the Rice?
Nigiri is fish served on a small bed of seasoned rice — the rice is part of the definition. If you want the fish without the rice, the right order is sashimi, not nigiri. Ordering sashimi gives you the same fish (tuna, salmon, yellowtail, and so on) with no rice underneath.
If you are deciding between the two, our nigiri vs. sashimi vs. rolls guide explains the difference in detail.
Putting a No-Rice Order Together
A complete riceless meal at Sushi Brokers might be: a Seaweed or Cucumber Salad to start, an order of Salmon or Tuna Sashimi, and the Seared Ahi Tuna or Sushi Nachos to share. Every item above is available at all three locations — Scottsdale, Arcadia, and Gilbert.
